Donan Isaribi Railway in danger of closure?

Before the Hokkaido Shinkansen was built, the Esashi Line was the main line on which the Blue Train "Hokutosei" used to run.

The Shinkansen crossed the Tsugaru Straits, and the Esashi Line became a third sector in addition to being a blind line.

But when Myu did a field survey, he found that there were quite a few passengers from Kikonai Station.

This place is more about cargo than passengers.

Young ones, then, have you ever wondered why potato cargoes can come across to Honshu, and why the Shikishima event train can depart from Ueno and travel within Hokkaido?

As you can see on the left, conventional lines can actually come and go through the Shinkansen's Seikan Tunnel!
That's why Kikonai and Tsugaru-Imabetsu stations exist.
